On the second day, the first place we visited was the Sukagawa Tokusatsu Archives Center.
Here, one can gain a deep understanding of the history and culture of tokusatsu (special effects filmmaking) established by Director Eiji Tsuburaya, who is known as the “God of Special Effects.” Through the collection, preservation, restoration, and research of valuable tokusatsu materials, the center is passing on the appeal of tokusatsu to future generations.
Inside the facility, visitors can view up close miniatures actually used in filming and rare materials that can only be seen here, covering the period from the time Director Tsuburaya was active up to the present day. This truly makes it a dream destination for tokusatsu fans.

The collection storage room on the first floor of the center allows visitors to view the miniatures used in actual production work, and the second floor features a corner designed to clearly explain the techniques of tokusatsu.

On the first floor, you can see many familiar miniatures.
Many of the miniatures are actually larger than I had imagined.

The second floor is the “Multi-Purpose Space.
” Here, you can see the miniature sets which are indispensable to Tokusatsu.

I was able to view valuable materials that are not usually accessible to the general public.
By the way, traveling for two days and one night, driving and visiting tourist spots, really puts a heavy burden on the legs and lower back… 💦
Even as a professional chiropractor myself, I keenly realize that treatment is necessary!
Body maintenance is essential, both for enjoying my hobby to the fullest and for treating everyone in Yurigaoka.
